Transparent, colourless, odourless, hygroscopic syrupy liquid. Glycerine (glycerol) is a polyalcohol containing three hydroxyl (-OH) groups.

Function / Dosage:

Solvent for chemicals, particularly flavourings; humectant (keeping foods moist) in marshmallows, pastilles and jelly-sweets; sweetener (about 0.6 times as sweet as cane sugar); bodying agent in combination with gelatin's and edible gums; plasticiser in edible coatings for meat and cheese. A.D.I. (Acceptable Daily Intake) Not specified. Check FSANZ website for specific food labelling requirements for this product if used as an ingredient in food.
