These cookies are designed to be rolled out, cut into shapes and iced and decorated any way that you like.
Sugar cookie dough ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened (225g)
- 1 cup castor sugar
- 1 ½ tsp AFIS 52.5019N Vanilla Bean Paste or 52.0099N Vanilla Bean Paste
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups plain flour
- ¾ tsp baking powder
Sugar cookie frosting ingredients
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 3 - 4 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp AFIS 3.650 Glucose Syrup
- ½ tsp AFIS 70.832 Vanilla Flavour
- 1-2 drops of AFIS liquid food colours of choice
- Additional candies and sprinkles for decorating optional
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line 2 baking sheets with baking paper.
Step 2
Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl, mix in egg and Vanilla Bean Paste and then add the flour and baking powder
Step 3
Remove dough from bowl and divide in half, rolling each half on a lightly floured surface until approximately 0.5cm thick.
Step 4
Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on prepared baking sheets.
Step 5
Bake for 10 minutes or until cookies are pale golden and the edges are just beginning to brown.
Step 6
Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool completely on trays before icing them.
Step 7
Mix all icing ingredients together in a large bowl until the icing is smooth and trails of the icing hold their shape for a few seconds. If needed, add a little more milk or sugar to reach the desired consistency.
Step 8
Pour into a piping bag and dice and decorate the cookies.
